About This Spot

Splinter's Cafe sits quietly on a corner in Carey, Ohio, offering a warm welcome that feels like a small-town embrace. From the moment you step inside, there’s an unhurried calm that wraps around you—a place where the rhythm of the day slows down enough to savor simple pleasures. The low hum of conversation from locals at the bar mingles with the soft clatter of dishes and the inviting aroma of fresh coffee, creating a space that feels lived-in and genuine.

This is a spot where mornings naturally stretch into mid-morning, and breakfast isn’t rushed but relished. Whether it’s breakfast plates served with care or a juicy cheeseburger paired with crispy sweet potato fries, the food here isn’t about flair but about honest, homey satisfaction. The menu quietly nods to classic comfort, with each dish crafted to nourish both body and spirit—whether you’re seated at a worn wooden table or at the bar catching up on local chat. The subtle attention to quality shows in the fresh crunch of coleslaw or the perfectly cooked burger that keeps guests coming back.

The pace at Splinter’s Cafe is gentle, reflective of its role as a neighborhood gathering place where familiarity breeds kindness. Went here on a whim while we were in Carey for a parade. Was definitely a good choice. We were greeted upon entering, the waitress was friendly and attentive, and the menu had a lot of wonderful dinner choices. The whole family loved the food.

Middle of the road food. Clean, including bathrooms. The two waitresses ran their tail off, place was under staffed. Return: probably if in the area

We stopped on our way through just on a whim. This little hole-in-the-wall bar surprised us all! The food was fresh, home made and delicious! I got the perch which was huge! The tartar sauce has clove or nutmeg and tastes so much better than that drab old store bought tartar. The cole slaw was fresh and crispy. Service was excellent and friendly!

Stopped in for lunch while working in the area. Ordered cheese burger, sweet potato fries, and coleslaw. Burger was cooked perfectly. The fries were, too. The coleslaw was fresh and you get a nice size serving. Some places serve it in a thimble. Not here . I have been here several times. Food and service are good and consistent........

Breakfast was good. We had 2 over easy/sausage/home fries/toast and a western omelet. It came quick and coffee cups were kept full. Not much more you can ask for. Dark and full of atmosphere, locals at the bar chatting up the news and having coffee. I would stop again.

Went for a very family retirement dinner. The staff was exceptional and food was delivered quickly, especially to the kids in the group. Food was excellent!
